As I decided to go in a different direction with my new logo, I had a go at refining and developing it to see if it changes anything. I also developed it with a more appropriate colour scheme that could reflect the brand.
The green theme, although not originally linked to my slight hint of blue direction, seems to work very well for the octopus. I think this is because it has connotations of nature, and the subtle hints and shades within the motif juxtaposes the shapes extremely well. With the different shades, approximately four, within this too, it could create a continuous colour scheme which I could project onto the further identity of the brand to create synergy and make it cohesive.
Again, on this design above I have stayed with the green theme and subtly altered the shades of green to make them more vibrant. This more distinctive colour palette works with the octopus in order to make it have perspective and create an interesting design; however, as a logo I feel that it could be too complex and wouldn’t work on all scales.
Moreover, after receiving feedback from my tutor, Mike, I am going to have a go at creating another octopus but this time have less curves so that it can work on all scales and isn’t too complex for the brand. However, I will still have a few curves otherwise it would look unnatural and wouldn’t reflect the freeness that I think the tattoo industry encompasses.
