For my branding idea I think that I am going to focus on typography as the basis of the first design. I think this is leaning towards the traditional branding idea for tattoo parlours, but I think that with the foundation of the typography it will create a nice starting point to, therefore, develop from.
This led me to researching into hand-drawn typographers and I came across Jessica Hische. Her typography is done with a specific space in mind and then using it to manipulate the typography. She uses quite a lot of the ‘curvy’ aesthetic in her type, as this is still easily readable and it suits her target market. One element that I like about her designs are the vibrance of colours within them. They work extremely well for the branding on some of the books, and I think that if this was used in a style of a logo or more of a corporate design it would be eye catching and could help the tattoo parlour become more of a nationwide brand across the country.
From both of these designers and typographers that I have researched so far I have gained some initial ideas that I think I can pursue into experimenting, with some ideas having a hand-drawn nature to them as well as the professional codes of digital and a concise layout that fits into a logo design.
